Welcome to the 2019-2020 Northley Middle School Musical!
Show Dates:  Calendar
Registration Forms and Auditions – EVERYONE must turn in a signed registration form (see Forms Page).
  • You will not be seen for an audition without a signed registration form.
    • Due by October 10th, 2019 for ALL cast members
  • Anyone who has turned in their signed registration form and is attending regular ensemble rehearsals will automatically be part of the cast.
    • You do not need to audition in order to be in the show unless you want a lead or small/small-group role.
School Activities

  • Students playing fall sports will be excused for practices and games and will not need to attend all rehearsals until fall sports end.
  • Students involved in winter activities (including sports and clubs) who audition for the following roles do so with the understanding that your priority is rehearsal. The actors playing these roles are on stage for a large portion of the show and require a significant time commitment. If you are selected for one of these roles, you are expected to attend your scheduled rehearsal (please see attached schedule): Belle, Beast, Mrs. Potts, Gaston, Lumiere, Cogsworth, LeFou
  • Students in winter activities (who are not selected for the above roles) are expected to attend rehearsal when called if you do not have a practice, game, or meeting. Please have these conversations with your coaches and advisors. If there are significant conflicts in schedule, please see me. If you are scheduled for rehearsal and sports practices/games, club meetings, etc. on the same days, you are expected to divide your rehearsal time evenly between the show and other commitments. All mandatory rehearsals are required, regardless of potential sports practices/ games, club meetings, etc. (please see attached schedule). They are very important dates as we are making the final preparations for the performances.
  • Please indicate your activity commitments on the attached form (sports, science Olympics, clubs, honor society, chorus and band).

Rehearsals

  • Bring your script and/or music packet and 2 sharpened pencils to ALL rehearsals.
  • Rehearsal schedules are attached and will be posted on the website (https://northleymstheater.blogspot.com).
  • Rehearsals and performances the weeks of February 17th and 24th are mandatory for the entire cast (except Saturday, February 22nd).
  • Check the rehearsal schedule, making note of when you are called. Please schedule all appointments, trips, etc. around rehearsals—a successful show requires absolute commitment from the cast.
  • Multiple missed rehearsals may mean you are removed from the numbers that were missed.
  • Students out of school sick cannot attend rehearsal.
  • 3 unexcused lateness, absences, and/or insubordinate behavior will result in dismissal from the show. Remember, all school rules as written in the school handbook apply to after school activities.
  • All conflicts must be emailed to Mrs. Thorpe as soon as you become aware of them (kthorpe@pdsd.org). Communication is important!

Maintain your academics

  • Schoolwork comes first! Make sure you plan to do your homework and studying in advance when possible.
  • The school eligibility requirements are applied to this extra-curricular activity. Two failing grades in any subject will result in INELIGIBILITY. Please see the Student Handbook regarding eligibility.
  • Students who are ineligible are unable to attend rehearsals. Continued ineligibility can result in dismissal from the cast. Please take care of your grades.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Please sign up for the Remind app and text @kthorpe to 81010. I look forward to working with all of you on Beauty and the Beast, Jr.!
